April 2014 Crafty Photo A Day Challenge

Can you believe it's almost April already??? The year is just flying by for us. And because of that, it's time to talk about the April Geeky Girls Knit Crafty Photo A Day Challenge.

For April, we're doing things a bit differently. We are so excited to be partnering with Knitter's Pride/KnitPro for GGKCRAFTYPAD in April.

Both Knitter's Pride/KnitPro and us, the Geeky Knitting Girls, will be offering prizes for those participating in the photo a day challenge.

Here's how to qualify for prizes with us, the Geeky Knitting Girls:
Post your picture for the daily prompt each day on Instagram tagged with #GGKCRAFTYPAD and #KPpadc - on the following Wednesdays (9-April, 16-April, 23-April, + 30-April), we'll choose our 5 favourite photos of the past week. Those photos will then be posted in a thread in our Ravelry group ~ Geeky Girls Knit Podcast so that everyone can vote on their favourite photo of the past week. The photos will be posted without identifying info so you can vote on your favourite photo and not necessarily who took the photo. We'll close the poll the following week just before we record the podcast and the person who took the photo with the most votes will win a prize. Just as with our other giveaways, the winner will have 30 days from the posting of the podcast with the winner announcement to claim their prize.

Here's how to qualify for prizes with Knitter's Pride/KnitPro:
To be a part of the fun, simply post your photos each day beginning April 1 using the prompts above and the #KPpadc and #GGKCRAFTYPAD hashtags so that they can find your entries on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. They will be randomly selecting photos on days marked with an asterisk to award fun prizes during the month of April, plus they will be selecting 10 semifinalists who will each receive Comby II Sampler sets and be in the running for their grand prize drawings! 3 Grand prizes will be voted on by their fabulous fans, so they'll let you know when the voting is live...for now, get ready to flash your stash, share your WIPS, and share your favorite Knitter's Pride/KnitPro products!

Here are the prompts for April 2014:

So, how can you participate beyond the requirements for qualifying for prizes above???? Well, there are actually several ways:
INSTAGRAM - Honestly, Instagram will be the primary arena for participating in this challenge. Simply take your photo, add a caption to it, tag it with the hashtag #GGKCraftyPAD and share it. By adding the hashtag #GGKCraftyPAD , others who are participating will be able to see the pictures that have been shared for the daily prompts. C.C. is on Instagram as cc_almon & Damaris is on Instagram as d_isabitweird so make sure to friend them if you haven't already.

RAVELRY - In our Ravelry group ~ Geeky Girls Knit Podcast, there will be a monthly thread where you can share your photos.

TWITTER - You can also share on Twitter by taking a photo and uploading it to Twitter along with the hashtag #GGKCraftyPAD . Follow us on Twitter as geekygirlsknit.

FACEBOOK - Feel free to share with your friends on your own Facebook profile page or on the Geeky Girls Knit Facebook page.

OTHER PLACES - Feel free to share your photos other places like your own blog, Tumblr, Flickr, etc. Be creative and then tell us about it! :-)

How will you remember what the daily prompts are???? Again, there are several ways:
~Save the image above to your phone or your computer and check it daily. Maybe even make it your wallpaper.
~Bookmark this post in your web browser and come back daily for the next prompt.
~Save this monthly Google Calendar as a bookmark in your web browser or even add the Google Calendar to your own Google Calendars.
~Follow us on Instagram as cc_almon, on Instagram as d_isabitweird and/or on Twitter as geekygirlsknit as we'll be posting the prompt for that day at some point during the day.

Most of all, we just want to encourage you to be creative. We hope this is as fun for yall as it is for us!!! Can't wait to see your photos!

Until next time,
Happy Knitting!

Episode 81 ~ In Which We Confuse the Months

As you know, we had major technical problems with this episode. We won't be keeping our new camera that we thought was going to be great because it totally messed up this episode. Please be aware there are at least 2 times in the episode where the video freezes for about 15-20 seconds, but the audio is fine. We'll be either going back to our old camera or working on a different solution to the video issue. Thanks again for understanding and your support! xx

There is a historic referendum on Scottish independence from the UK coming up this fall (see: http://www.euronews.com/2014/02/07/david-cameron-urges-uk-to-keep-scotland-in-the-fold/). What are your thoughts on Scottish independence? How may this affect The Hubs’ studies at the University of Edinburgh? Are you making plans on changing your legal status in such a way that you can participate in the referendum vote?
