Ask the Geeky Girls -
Jorunn (FjordLord) from Norway asks:
Hi Geeky Girls! I was wondering if you have any thoughts on different knitting styles and how you wrap the yarn around when you knit. The way I learnt to knit as a child, is what I understand is called continental style knitting. This is where you hold the yarn with your left hand, over your left index finger, and use your right needle to “hook” the yarn and then pull it through. The only time I knit while wrapping yarn around using my right hand is when I do colour work. On the occasions where we can see you actually knitting on your podcast, it seems that you might be knitting the wrap-around-style, and that has always seemed to me to be a (sorry) slower way of doing it. Have you tried other styles of knitting, or have you any other thoughts on this? What do you think are the pros and cons of knitting this way or the other?
